After Permanent Crown Delivery

The patient presented with tooth #4 fracture and non-restorable. To preserve the teeth on either side an implant was chosen to replace the tooth. The implant was placed at the same time as the extraction. The area was allowed to heal. The implant replaces the lost root and helps to preserve bone. A crown was placed over the implant fully restoring function and aesthetics.

Immediate implant placement

When a tooth is extracted it can be possibel to place an implant at the time of extraction.  It may not be possible in every case, but in this example it saved 3-4 months of healing time.  The implant is allowed to heal and integrate into the bone.  A small healing cap at the gum level is the only sign that there was an implant placed.  With the final crown the patient can clean, floss and chew like normal.
